Today’s 100th-anniversary memory is from over 80 years ago when our first mission to Lithuania ended due to events of World War II. The last Sisters to leave, Sister M. Virginia (left) and Sister M. Urban (right) are pictured in Berlin in 1940 during their long and challenging journey to safety. According to the Sisters’ account, those pictured in the photo are “Jewish refugees who traveled with us to the U.S.” We remain grateful to our provident God and all who ensured the safety and protection of our Sisters and their travel companions. Today, we continue to keep in prayer for all persons fleeing dangerous situations, as well as those living in regions of violence and conflict.
