During the second week of Advent, we reflect upon PEACE.  The Hebrew word for peace: Shalom, means more than the absence of violence or conflict. Biblically, it refers to an inward sense of completeness and tranquility that comes from God.  It is also used as a blessing, like  “Peace be with you.”

For Franciscans, peace is a way of life in anticipation of the fully realized peace in our eternal home with Christ.  We strive to be instruments of God’s peace, which includes witnessing to the Gospel by living simply, loving honestly and humbly serving one another and all of God’s creation. As peacemakers, we are also called to ministry and service that advocates for those experiencing poverty, oppression and injustice.

What does peace mean to you?  Join us as we continue to pray: God, how can I be an instrument of your peace?
