Purpose and Philosophy

Your child’s early years are a magical time. We recognize this and encourage your child’s creativity and unique personality.

Our philosophy is that we believe each child is a special individual with varying interests and abilities. Our programs foster your child’s creativity, self-image and continual growth and provide a variety of learning experiences that promote physical, intellectual, social and emotional development and are designed to help children develop to their fullest potential.

We instill Christian and Franciscan values by encouraging children to be aware of the wonder and beauty of creation in which they are immersed, enabling them to grow in harmony with themselves, others and the world around them.

We see ourselves in partnership with parents and are supportive of and recognize the challenges you encounter in today’s world. We provide your child with a warm and nurturing environment – a home away from home – and keep you “in the loop” by sending notes home as well as meeting with you regularly.

Programs

Infants

This program provides care for children ages 6 weeks to 24 months. Through daily interactions with responsible, caring adults, babies experience positive relationships that develop trust and emotional security.

Toddlers

Toddlers develop self-confidence when they are free to explore, to master new skills and when they feel that caring adults encourage them and take pleasure in their interests and accomplishments. FCDCC is well-equipped with instructional materials that are designed to provide an ample variety of learning experiences geared to the developmental needs of toddlers.

Pre-School

FCDCC promotes a stimulating, challenging learning environment. The staff provides the children with an environment of consistency and a sense of security. Through the age and individually appropriate curriculum, our teachers give children daily opportunities to develop physically, socially, emotionally and intellectually. Our goal is to meet the needs of the whole child. When these needs are met, children are successful in Kindergarten and successful in life.

Before-and-After School Care

FCDCC offers before and after-school care for elementary-aged children (through 5th grade), as well as an optional full day program on school holidays. A variety of activities and fun is offered, including:

  • Arts, crafts and music activities
  • Cooking projects and cookouts
  • Outdoor games and play
  • Homework support and reading enrichment

For your convenience, busing is provided to and from Keystone Oaks and Baldwin-Whitehall School Districts.
