USA Province
Throughout the USA, the
Sisters of St. Francis of the Providence of God work in a variety of
educational, vocation, social, parish and caregiver ministries. In Pittsburgh, Many Sisters continue to live on the Motherhouse grounds, which includes accommodations for working, retired and infirm Sisters. Our retired and infirm Sisters are kept
busy with their Prayer Ministries. Other sisters live in various convents throughout the Pittsburgh area as well as in New York and New Jersey.
On
our Pittsburgh campus, located in the Whitehall section of Pittsburgh's South Hills, the Sisters of St. Francis of the Providence
of God (also known as the Whitehall Franciscans) operate two centers
and offer Therapeutic Massage. The Franciscan Child Day Care Center is located in the former St. Francis
Academy building (which closed in 1992). The Franciscan Spirit and Life Center is housed in St. Clare Hall,
which is the former dormitory for the Academy. Even though the
Academy no longer exists, its spirit does through its dedicated
alumnae. The St. Francis Academy Alumni Association gets together socially but also supports our ministries
through contributions of time and money.
In addition to our SFA Alumnae, we also receive a great
deal of support from volunteers , Associates and the Auxiliaries of Pittsburgh
and Chicago, as well as St. Casimir's Alumni Association.
Outside Whitehall
Throughout the
Pittsburgh area and in various other parts of the USA, we continue
to work in a variety of educational, social, parish and caregiver
ministries.
